said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the
stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.
¡iNIV¡jThe manager said to
himself, `What shall I do now? My master is taking away my job. I'm not
strong enough to dig, and I'm ashamed to beg--
¡iBBE¡jAnd the servant said to
himself, What am I to do now that my lord takes away my position? I have not
enough strength for working in the fields, and I would be shamed if I made
requests for money from people in the streets.
¡iASV¡jAnd the steward said
within himself, What shall I do, seeing that my lord taketh away the
stewardship from me? I have not strength to dig; to beg I am ashamed.

for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to drop out of the

away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever
marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.

wife and marries another woman commits adultery, and the man who marries a
divorced woman commits adultery.

his wife and takes another, is a false husband: and he who is married to a
woman whose husband has put her away, is no true husband to her.

pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's
bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also

came to his end, and angels took him to Abraham's breast. And the man of
wealth came to his end, and was put in the earth.

that the beggar died, and that he was carried away by the angels into

torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.

said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the
tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this
flame.
¡iNIV¡jSo he called to him, `Father
Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in
water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'
¡iBBE¡jAnd he gave a cry and
said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus, so that he may put
the end of his finger in water and put it on my tongue, for I am cruelly
burning in this flame.
¡iASV¡jAnd he cried and said,
Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip
of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am in anguish in this
flame.

received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.

this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which
would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would
come from thence.

between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go
from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.'

is a deep division fixed between us and you, so that those who might go from
here to you are not able to do so, and no one may come from you to us.

him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded,

do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if
